Regional Ayurveda Research Institute, Gwalior
The Regional Ayurveda Research Institute (RARI), Gwalior is a premier research Institute working under the Central Council for Research in Ayurvedic Sciences (CCRAS), an apex body of Ministry of AYUSH, Government of India for the coordination of Research in Ayurvedic Sciences on Scientific lines. The Institute activities started in the month of April 1970 and continued up to April 1979 under Composite Drug Research Scheme. It was established initially as Regional Research Institute (Ay.) in 1979 with the merger of survey of Medicinal Plants Unit (SMPU), Mobile Clinical Research Unit (MCRU) in addition to Community Health Care Research Programme. The Institute was upgraded as Central Research Institute (Ay.) in 1999. The Institute was shifted to its own building in August 2002. As per the notification of CCRAS dated 15th December 2009, the Institute has been re-upgraded in category “A” and named as National Research Institute for Ayurveda –Siddha Human Resource Development, Gwalior. Later the name of this Institute has been changed as Regional Ayurveda Research Institute for Drug Development, Aamkho, Gwalior on 19th May 2016. Further the institute has been renamed as Regional Ayurveda Research Institute since 22nd December 2020. This institute is presently functioning with various departments including Clinical (OPD & IPD), Chemistry, Pharmacognosy, Pharmacology, Biochemistry etc. The Institute laboratories are accredited by National Accreditation Board for Testing and Calibration Laboratories (NABL) as per ISO/IEC 17025:2017. The Hospital of the institute is accredited by National Accreditation Board for Hospitals and Healthcare Providers (NABH). The institute has also got the license as Drug Testing Laboratory (DTL) for testing of Ayurveda, Siddha and Unani drugs by the Drug Controller (AYUSH), Madhya Pradesh. Besides, the Institute has Laboratory animal facility approved by the Committee for the Control and Supervision of Experiments on Animals (CCSEA), Ministry of Environment and Forest, Government of India, for conducting animal studies.
